It’s common to hear computer jobs described as “cushy” — at least compared to “manual work”. But I’m back at my desk for the first time in a few months, and let me tell you: if you aren’t acclimated to it, working on a computer all day long is exhausting.
Several members of my family began new careers in middle age, and I’m considering doing the same thing soon. I had assumed that I was getting too old to switch to something more physically demanding that office work. Yet I spent the months away from my computer job mostly on my feet or getting down onto the floor, carrying a growing child the whole time, and I felt great. Maybe I’m getting too old to not switch to something more physically demanding than office work?
